MISSION
Engaging with key themes and practices of research methodology, with a particular focus on mixed methods approaches, this initiative aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of computational social science and multimethod research design. It will facilitate collaborative research among JSIA faculty members, enabling them to assist each other in enhancing their methodological skills. By cooperating with other JSIA centres in endeavors requiring both descriptive and inferential analysis, the initiative will also foster collaborative research and knowledge exchange between the Centre and host institutions, thereby enriching the academic environment and contributing to a robust research culture.
OBJECTIVES
The program seeks to increase the quality and range of methodological approaches used by the school’s researchers through targeted training and capacity-building initiatives. It will assist students and scholars in streamlining their respective research designs and applications, ensuring efficiency and precision in their work. By driving methodological development and innovation through its own research program, the initiative will collaborate with faculty members, research scholars, and interested students to advance the field. The program will also periodically organize short courses, workshops, seminars, talks, and discussions on various tools and themes related to research methodology and research designs. Additionally, it will perform cross-comparative descriptive and causal analysis of topics in peace and conflict studies, contributing to a deeper understanding of these critical areas.
